Please disregard my comment about Go...Correction!

Please disregard my comment about Google "Street view" being unavailable on US maps ... for some reason I was thinking USA when in fact it's Europe which does not have this facility, not the US ... I stumbled ...Hello Blair from Brisbane, Australia.

I stumbled across your blog via another NSWGR modeller's site.
Intriguing to see the NSWGR modelled outside Australia! I'm pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit to Oz, seems you covered a lot of ground during your short stay! ... nice to hear that your friends here have returned some of the great hospitality I have experienced when visiting the US.
I thought you might appreciate a suggestion which may assist you getting a feel for the surroundings in the region you are modelling (without the jet-lag!: The Google Map "street view" feature (as opposed to "Satellite" view) provides continuous roadside photography covering most of the continent including rural areas. Great for viewing line-side structures, landscape etc where road-meets-rail (Curiously the "street-view" facility does not appear to be available on USA maps???). As an example, search Google map for "Edgeroi NSW" (small town north of Narrabri) ... move the "street view" icon to the Newell Highway opposite the station. If you drag the view to face West you see a great panorama of a rake of 13 wheat hoppers beside the silos & storage sheds etc. Also, If you haven't yet visited James McInerney's "Lambing Flat" site it may be of great interest to you.
http://jamesmcinerney8531.fotopic.net/c740733.html

Good luck with your layout & I look forward to following your progress.

Kind regards,

Barry.Manfrensengenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16896294368557973826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283183568176201289.post-59913601418608519842009-07-28T23:09:20.895-07:002009-07-28T23:09:20.895-07:00Ditto on that one Blair. No idea re pricing comparison but they are nice units and very "prototype" in operation. They have just brought out a 'starter pack', might be worth a look.

GLGary Lakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11827189280938138636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283183568176201289.post-28793735335955176632009-07-27T04:05:02.048-07:002009-07-27T04:05:02.048-07:00Welcome back Blair.
